Heartbroken father relives son’s suicide

Post mortems examinations are due to be carried out today on the bodies of two fishermen, who were Latvian and Lithuanian, who died when their car sank off Ros a Mhil Harbour last night [2/11]

A third man, from Lithuania, who was in the car when it went off the pier managed to escape and is being treated for shock

The three men in their 30s, from Lithuania and Latvia, worked as fishermen on a boat out of Ros a Mhil [Rus-a-Veel] for the past few months

They were driving on the pier in Ros a Mhil [Rus-a-veel] around half nine last night when their car went over a 6 inch barrier and into the sea

The car landed on its roof in 10 metres of water and the driver and front seat passenger tragically drowned

A third man, who was in the back of the car made a miraculous escape through the sunroof and is now being treated for shock

The Garda Water Unit and the Coastguard recovered the bodies of the drown victims from the water

They were removed to University Hospital Galway for post mortem examinations later today
