The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is calling for immediate action from the Health Minister over the crisis at the A&E Department at University Hospital Galway.

Yet another trolley record has been set at the city hospital today as 60 patients are forced to remain on trolleys at the A&E, Medical Assessment Unit and on wards.

Some patients are now even waiting on trolleys at Merlin Park Hospital, while a further three people are on trolleys at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Health, Billy Kelleher will hold a series of meetings in the city this evening to discuss the crisis.

He will meet local party representatives and members of the public at the Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit, before visiting UHG tomorrow.
