HEALTH MINISTER TO VISIT CITY AMIDST ROW OVER SAVITA INVESTIGATION

The Health Minister’s visit to the city this morning is likely to be dominated by questions surrounding the investigation into the death of Savita Halappanavar.

James Reilly will hold meetings in Merlin Park Hospital to brief staff and members of the HSE regional forum west on health reform issues.

The meetings are part of a national tour to discuss specific actions towards the introduction of a single tier health system.

It follows the publication of the document, Future Health : a strategic framework for the reform of the health service 2012-2015.

Questions will be asked on the future of health services as well as the proposed cuts to the health budget, but many are likely to be focused on the row over the inquiry into the death of 31 year old Savita at UHG last month.
