HEALTH MINISTER TO REDUCE MRI WAITING LIST IN GALWAY

The Minister for Health has made a politicaL to improve MRI scan waiting times in Galway.

Minister James Reilly told Galway West Labour TD Derek Nolan he would tackle the issue and work to reduce the backlog of patients waiting to use the medical device.

Minister Reilly last week appointed a new chief of a Special Delivery Unit to improve access to the emergency and elective care system.

The MRI unit has extended its opening hours over lunch but waiting times are still at 8 months for a scan.
