HEALTH MINISTER MEETS WITH PRAVEEN HALAPANNAVAR

The Minister for Health has expressed his condolences with Praveen Halapannavar on the death of his wife at University Hospital Galway.

James Reilly held a 45 minute meeting with Praveen at a hotel in the city this afternoon.

A spokeserson for the Health Minister says they talked about the current investigations taking place, and the Minister listened to Praveen’s concerns.

Earlier today Praveen stated he’s prepared to go to the European court of Human rights if an independent inquiry is not set up into her death.

31 year old Savita died at University Hospital Galway last month from blood poisoning after suffering a miscarriage.

HIQA announced this lunchtime it will undertake a statutory investigation into the care and treatment provided to Savita, who died at UHG last month.
