The Space Between is an exhibition of contemporary lace art in Headford that’s running from this Saturday, October 10, to Sunday, October 18. The lace/artwork show, which has been curated by Dublin lace artist Fiona Harrington will be displayed in windows on the town’s Main Street.

The latest work of the Headford Lace Project, features 34 artists from 11 countries spanning four continents, all of whom work in lace. Work in the exhibition includes techniques such as bobbin lace, needle lace, Carrickmacross Lace, Borris Lace, tatting, Limerick Lace and crochet lace.

Also on display will be two lace art commissions. The first, by Irish artist Selma Makela is entitled Lacemaker Icon. The second commissioned piece is by Finish artist Tarmo Thorström and is a larger-than-life outdoor lace sculpture entitled Micro/Macro.

“Headford Lace Project has worked for four years now to research, revive and reimagine the almost forgotten heritage of bobbin lace-making in Headford,” explains Chairperson of Headford Lace Project Eilís Nic Dhonncha.
