Half of courses at NUIG increase in CAO points

Galway Bay fm newsroom – More than half the courses taught at NUIGalway have seen an increase in demand, driving up the first round CAO points needed.

Commerce has risen from 340 to 375 points, Commerce with French is up 30 points to 525 and Commerce with German is up 45 points to 450.

Business Information Systems at NUIG saw an increase of 30 points to 400 while Commerce (Accounting) increased 20 to 440 points.

Science subjects have also proven popular at NUIG, with the points for biomedical science increasing from 540 to 545.

Environmental science is also up 25 to 400, however Engineering is down 30 to 400.

Arts at NUIG has remained unchanged at 300 points and in Law, both Civil law and Corporate law are up 10 and 15 points respectively.

At GMIT, science has seen a decrease of 10 points to 350, while construction management has decreased from 240 to 215 points.

Accounting at GMIT remains unchanged at 265.

The closing date for acceptance of CAO round one offers is at five fifteen on the evening of Monday August 26th.

For those who don’t get their first choice offer today – the round-two offers will be made on Thursday August 29th.
