Government urged to provide Galway workshops on CAP deal

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Department of Agriculture should provide one-to-one workshops with Galway farmers to educate them about the new CAP deal.

That’s according to Fine Gael MEP for the North West, Jim Higgins.

He says it would be more productive if the Department held information workshops, rather than overloading farmers with documentation and fines.

Various new measures are included in the new CAP deal such as 25 percent top-up payments for young farmers and the liberalisation of sugar and milk markets.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, MEP Higgins says the Department’s own inspectors should give CAP workshops.
