GORSE FIRES NOW UNDER CONTROL AFTER WEEK-LONG BLAZES
Date Published: 06-Apr-2013
After over a week of concentrated gorse fires countywide, just two were dealt with by emergency crews overnight.
Two units of Ballinasloe fire services were called to a blaze in Ahascragh at around 8.30 last evening and left the area after containing the fire at 11.30 last night.
This was followed by a less extensive fire in Cloonlusk in Tuam at around 9.30 last night which was quickly brought under control.
Met Eireann’s Fire Weather Index has predicted that dry and windy risk weather conditions are likely to remain until this weekend at least.
