GOOD NEWS FOR DELAYED GAELTACHT COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Delayed Galway community projects are set to go ahead under a new local development company.

Comhar na nOileain Teoranta has been selected to take over the work of Meitheal Forbartha na Gaetachta which went into liquidation in September 2011.

The company will now be responsible for heading Axes 3 and 4 of the Rural Development programme in Connemara and other Gaeltacht areas.

Community groups are being encouraged to apply for European Funding to the Inis Oirr based company.

Deputy Sean Kyne says its an essential service for rural communities to gain access to financial support.
