GO AHEAD FOR TEMPORARY SPECIAL EDUCATION FACILITY IN MERLIN PARK

Permission has been granted to build a temporary school building on the grounds of Merlin Park Hospital, to support the existing Child and Adolescent Psychiatric service.

Galway City Council has granted the go-ahead for the special education facility subject to six conditions.

The plans involve the construction of a single storey temporary school building, consisting of classroom accommodation and ancillary site works.

The site will remain under the ownership of the HSE, while leased to the Department of Eucation for the life of the school.

The occupant St Anne’s School had previously been located at Taylor’s Hill.
