The county council has paved the way for a major new supermarket in Tuam.

Developer Pat Donoghue has today been granted permission to build a large supermarket and a drive-through restaurant near Blackacre in Tuam Townparks.

Galway county planners have also attached 14 conditions to the granting of planning permission today.

Pat Donoghue’s plans for the Townparks site include an anchor supermarket, together with alcohol sales area, hot deli counter, three warehouses, drive-through restaurant, public recycling area, taxi rank, bus shuttle pick-up/set-down area, 360 parking spaces.

It’s understood the anchor tenant will more than likely be Tesco or Dunnes Stores.
