GO AHEAD FOR NEW ENGINEERING DEVELOPMENT AT NUIG

The largest capital project in the history of NUI Galway has got the green light.

Galway city council has granted permission for a new engineering building at the upper Newcastle end of the campus.

The new engineering building will consist of seminar rooms, lecturing space and administrative accommodation.

An energy centre to the Northern side of the main building will house the main mechanical and electrical plant serving the engineering building.

The 4 storey facility will enable the centralisation of all engineering departments at the university.

Planning permission for the 14,000 square feet development has been granted with 40 conditions.
