Glastonbury headliners Kasabian for Seapoint
ENGLISH indie rock band, Kasabian, who made an instant splash with their debut album in 2004, bring their arena-filling swagger to Seapoint Ballroom on Saturday, May 17.
Their style appeals to fans of classic English bands from the nineties – they tap into the psychedelic side of Primal Scream, the grooves of The Stone Roses and the swaggering choruses that defined Oasis.
Kasabian also have their own unique style. Front man Tim Meighan brings a pomp and charm that’s hard to resist while guitarist and vocalist Sergio Pizzorno has a glam style reminiscent of the late Marc Bolan.
The band also boast some serious tunes. Shoot The Runner is a tune to soundtrack a night on the town, a hands-in-the-air anthem. Fire, from Kasabian’s third album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, is proper rock ‘n’ roll.
On the tour for that album, Kasabian were occasionally joined by Noel Fielding from comedy superstars The Mighty Boosh, who’s a big fan.
Their fifth album will be released in June, so expect to hear some new material when they come to Galway.
Kasabian have just been announced as one of the headliners at Glastonbury and their last gig in Ireland was in the 02, so this is a chance to see genuine rock stars in an intimate setting. This should be a great night out. Tickets €36/€34 available now from roisindubh.net.
