Getting the show back on the road!
IT’S early days yet and still only the second week of February . . . but already plans are being hatched for the return of the summer agricultural shows across the county.
Last month’s massive easing of the Covid restrictions now seems to have cleared the way for the return of agricultural shows over this coming summer.
Hot on the heels of one of the country’s biggest national shows to return – Tullamore on Sunday, August 14 – the Corrandulla Show are also planning a spectacular return on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
Chairperson of the Corrandulla Show Committee, Lucille Smyth, told the Farming Tribune, that all the signs were good for the return of their event on the last Sunday in June.
Anyone interested in helping out with this year’s Corrandulla Show have been invited to a meeting tonight (Thursday, Feb. 10) in the Pastoral Centre, Corrandulla, at 8.30.
“We want to throw this open to more people – to get new blood involved – and we sense that there is great enthusiasm for the show to return.
“It has been a very tough two years for everyone in many different ways and we feel that the return of the agricultural shows during the summer will help to renew a sense of optimism in people,” said Lucille Smyth.
She said that while the show venture was always a huge undertaking, both in voluntary effort and finance, there was a huge dividend in terms of the sheer joy that people got from such events.
