Get a pizza the action with new gig night in Crust Bucket!
Galway-based independent record label Rusted Rail continues its season of intimate gigs under the name ‘Bus King’ on a stationary double-decker bus in a Galway City beer garden.
The Crust Bucket pizza bus in Carroll’s of Dominick Street will play host to a series of pop-up live music performances, curated by Rusted Rail, with the next “Bus King” gig taking place this Saturday, October 7, at 3pm with a solo performance from Niall Murphy from Oh Boland.
Keith Wallace is the head of Rusted Rail, and it has to be asked – how did the label come up with the idea of having a gig on a bus?
“I came across the Crust Bucket pizza bus in the beer garden of my local and thought to myself, it would be a good place to put on unplugged gigs,” Keith says. “Then the name came to me – Bus King’ – and the rest is history!”
Oh Boland are one of the most exciting bands to emerge from Galway in recent years, and Keith is a big fan of their front man.
“Niall is a force of nature,” he says. “As the third most famous songwriter to come out of Tuam after Leo Moran and Brian Kelly [the Half Forward Line/So Cow man, who played the first Bus King gig], it’s only right to see Mr Murphy up close and personal in an acoustic style; he’s a tasty player.”
There will be more gigs on the bus every fortnight and it’s a welcome and innovative addition to local music scene.
