Gardai to seek European Warrant for Pole

GARDAÍ are set to seek a European Arrest Warrant for the Polish man they are seeking in their probe into the murder of Kieran Cunningham in the city centre a fortnight ago.

It’s understood that Europol, the EU’s law enforcement agency, is already on the lookout for the man.

Officers are attempting to establish if the man has fled the country after he failed to show up for a flight from Dublin airport. A Garda source told the Sentinel that Gardaí were “in force” at Dublin airport two days after the murder on Williamsgate Street to arrest the man, who had booked a ticket to Poland. However, it is understood he never showed up at the airport.

All ferry and airports across the country had been alerted to be on the lookout for the man, and have been provided with all of his passports details.

He fled his rental address in Renmore the day after the murder, after arranging cover for his shift at the city centre bar and restaurant in which he worked.
