GARDAI TO GET TOUGH WITH LOUGHREA LORRY DRIVERS

Heavy vehicles which continue to ignore weight restrictions in Loughrea streets are to face on the spot fines.

Inspector Conor Madden has told a meeting of the Joint Policing Committee in Loughrea that signs erected at Mount Carmel restrict vehicles over 3 tonnes weight using the road.

The Gardai can impose on the spot fines if these signs are ignored by lorry drivers.
