Gardaí target motorists breaking red lights
From this week’s Galway City Tribune – Almost 400 fines were issued to motorists in Galway City for breaking red lights over the past two years – with Gardaí confirming they target specific junctions if ‘breaches’ are reported.
Up to the end of November 2019 – the most up-to-date figures available – there were a total of 198 Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) issued in the city, around four per week. In 2018, 200 FCPNs were issued.
The statistics for were included for the first time in the local Garda crime report presented at the quarterly meetings of the Galway City Joint Policing Committee (JPC).
