Gardaí have seized an estimated €450,000 worth of cannabis from a ‘grow house’ in Connemara.

The premises at Farnaght, Corr na Mona, was described as “highly sophisticated” by Gardaí.

It was searched today by the Divisional Drugs Unit attached to Galway Garda Station, and cannabis plants at a mature stage of growth were discovered.

Gardaí have estimated their value at €450,000. Dry cannabis was also discovered.

The house has been sealed off for a forensic technical examination which is taking place tonight.

The raid came as a follow-up to an arrest in Wicklow last night. Gardaí stopped a car at Sally Gap and seized cannabis worth an estimated €2,000, and arrested a man in his 40s.
