GARDAI QUESTION WOMAN OVER ROAD DEATH OF CORRANDULLA MAN PAKIE LYNCH

An elderly pedestrian, named locally as Pakie Lynch died in a hit and run in Drumgriffin in Corrandulla, close to his home, early today

A woman in her thirties was arrested by Gardai several hours after the Corrandulla fatal crash

Mr Lynch’s body was found just before 9 o’clock this morning at Drumgriffin, near Cregg Castle, and just yards from his home

The single man was pronouced dead at the scene, and his body was removed to University Hospital Galway where the Deputy State Pathologist will carry out a post mortem examination

Pakie Lynch had been out socialising in nearby Peggy’s Bar until 1 this morning, and was walking home when he was struck by a car some time between 1 and 2 am

The car left the scene but this afternoon a woman in her thirties was arrested by Galway Gardai in the Corrandulla area

She’s is being questioned at Mill Street station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act
