GARDAI LIAISE WITH CASH FOR GOOD SHOPS
Date Published: 23-May-2011
Gardaí are liasing with the operators of ‘Cash for Gold’ and ‘Cash for goods’ shops in the city, in a bid to prevent stolen goods being resold.
At a meeting of the City Joint Policing Committee, Councillor Niall McNeilis asked if such shops were checked for stolen goods.
Chief Superintendent of Galway Garda Division, Donal Ó Cualáin said that cash for goods shops are checked but that there is no onus on the operators to have a register, which is required for a pawnshop.
He added that Gardaí are liasing with the owners of such shops on a regular basis.
