GARDAI INVESTIGATE SERIOUS ASSAULT IN CITY OVERNIGHT

Gardai are investigating a serious assault in the city which resulted in a young man being hospitalised with head injuries overnight .

The 26-year-old was assaulted near the AIB bank at Lynch’s Castle on Shop Street at around 2.30am, according to Gardai.

He was taken to University Hospital Galway where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
