Gardaí investigate death of man in Galway City

Gardaí are investigating the death of a man, whose body was found at a residence on Sea Road this morning.

The man, who was aged in his early 20s, was found unresponsive at his residence and later pronounced dead.

The body has since been removed to the Mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem has been scheduled to take place.

“This death is not thought to be Covid-related and Gardaí are awaiting post-mortem and toxicology results to determine the course of their enquiries. Investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson said.

The death is being treated as “unexplained” at the moment.
