Gardai investigate damage to controversial water pipe in Connemara

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardai are investigating alleged criminal damage to a controversial water pipe at Ardmore in Carna.
It is believed that the pipe, several kilometers in length, was constructed in the past week to feed fresh water from Loch an Oir to Galway bay.
Gardai say that the alleged damage occured between the 26th and the 28th of June.
Irish Water has stated that while discussions have taken place with operator Marine Harvest, no argreement had been reached and they are currently monitoring the situation.
Galway Senator Trevor O Clochartaigh says local residents have expressed serious concerns over the impact of the extraction.
