GARDAI INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED THEFT OF FUEL IN LOUGHREA

At least two men are still on the run following their foiled attempt to steal fuel from a filling station in Loughrea in the early hours of this morning.[18/12]

The men abandoned their truck containing fuel pumping equipment at the TOPAZ station on the Ballinasloe Road in Loughrea, after Gardaí came on the scene at 4am

The men were wearing balaclavas, but they fled the scene empty handed.

A technical examination team are examining the white volvo rigid body truck with an english license plate.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Loughrea area this morning to contact them 091 84 28 70.
