GARDAI CONTINUE SEARCH FOR ARMED INVERIN RAIDER
Date Published: 01-Aug-2012
Gardaí are still searching for the armed raider who stole up to 20 thousand euro from a shop and post office in Inverin.
Salthill Gardaí held high level talks today to determine the direction the investigation will take.
On Monday night the shop manager of An Siopa Phobail was out socialising at the Poitin Stil pub in Inverin.
When he went to his car to drive home, at around a quarter to midnight, a masked man carrying what appeared to be a gun jumped into the passenger seat beside him.
He demanded he drive to An Siopa Phobail – and there he tied the shop manager to a chair and stole a substantial amount of cash.
The thief then made his getaway in the shop manager’s car, a black Toyota Starlet, which was later found in Bohoona, Spiddal.
Superintendent Noel Kelly of Salthill Garda Station has appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
