Gardai have travelled to Latvia and arrested a man in connection with the murder of a Glenamaddy factory worker in 2011.

The man was arrested on foot of a European Arrest Warrant over the death of Juris Buls, whose body was found in a wooded area near Creggs in July 2011.

30-year-old Juris Buls worked in Titan Plastics in Glenamaddy when he disappeared on July 7th, 2011.

Gardai discovered his body over two weeks later in a wooded area, 10km from his home in Glenamaddy.

Mr. Buls’s body was dumped in a drain and a post mortem revealed that he had been strangled.

38 year old Sergejs Krauze was later charged with manslaughter at Galway Circuit Criminal Court and sentenced to ten years in prison.

However, Gardai were unable to apprehend his brother Andresj Krauze, who fled to Latvia.

Tuam Gardai traveled to Latvia on Thursday and arrested a man, who is due to be returned to Ireland to stand trial over the murder.

It’s understood he could appear before the courts this weekend.
