GARDA WARNING TO BALLINASLOE RESIDENTS OVER BOGUS CALLERS

Residents in the Ballinasloe area are being urged to be vigilant after a pensioner was robbed by a bogus caller over the weekend.

The ninety-year-old woman was targeted by a caller posing as a Garda who then proceedeed to snatch money from her purse, before fleeing the scene.

The incident took place in the Jubilee area of Balinasloe between 3 and 5 on Saturday evening.

Gardai are now examining any available CCTV footage as well as carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

No arrests have yet been made.
