Gardai have stepped up foot patrols in Galway city to deter further attacks.

It’s in light of last week’s murder of a Swiss teenager, visiting the city for a language course.

A garda spokesperson told Galway Bay FM news this morning that extra numbers of Gardai are now patrolling walkways all over the city but in particular along the railway line behind Ceannt Station and in Renmore, where the girl’s body was found.

17-Year old Manuela Riedo’s remains were flown home to Switzerland yesterday accompanied by two Garda liaison officers, one of them Galway-based.

Garda Detectives are hoping the killer will give himself away by changes in behaviour or appearance.

So far no one has been arrested in connection with Manuela’s murder.
