Gardaí in Carna say they will not stand for last night’s arson attack on the Garda Station.

They say the attack is not just an attack on Gardai in the immediate area but an attack on Gardaí all over the country.

Extensive damage was caused in last night’s attack which happened at around 10 o’clock and two units of the fire brigade from Clifden attended the scene.

It’s understood a number of lockers and uniforms were damaged.

It’s the second attack on Carna Garda station in recent weeks.

Last month, all the windows were smashed by stones along with other damage to the exterior.

Super Intendent Anthony O Domhnaill of Carna Garda station says the attack was a ‘despicable effort by thugs to cause damage and interfere with the process of the state’
