GARDA APPEAL FOLLOWING FATAL ROAD CRASH IN ROSSAVEAL

Gardai are appealing for information following a fatal road crash near the Pier at Rossaveal last night, in which a male pedestrian was killed.

The road reopened at midday after the completion of a technical examination by forensic collision investigators.

The crash between a motorbike and the pedestrian took place just after 9 last night and was attended by two units of the city fire brigade.

The male driver and female pillion passenger of the motorbike were taken to UHG where they were treated for non-serious injuries.

The pedestrian, a male aged in his thirties, and believed to be a foreign national, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem is now taking place at University Hospital Galway.
