LIBERTAS leader Declan Ganley finally announced at the weekend that he is to run as a candidate in the threeseater North West European constituency – ending months of speculation on whether he would stand for election, following the Libertas success in the Lisbon Treaty campaign.
He told the attendance of over 200 at a function in the Glenlo Abbey Hotel that in twelve weeks time, the people would decide how they wished to be represented in Europe in the European Parliament. The decisions were vital, because we were at a crossroads, we had a political cartel which had
failed the country.
After a lot of careful consideration, he had come to his decision. He intended to battle throughout the length and breadth of the constituency giving voice to the serious concerns of the people, and expressing their hopes for the future. He said Libertas would run candidates in all 27 EU member countries.
