Galway women lift FAI Cup for the first time

EUROPE beckons for the Galway and District League after they captured the Umbro FAI
Women’s Cup for the first time in their history at Dalymount Park on Sunday. A superbly converted spot kick by player of the match Niamh Fahey netted the title for Galway and Galway will now represent Ireland in next season’s UEFAchampionship. A measure of their success against fellowfirst time finalists Raheny was that the Dublin side has been assembled with a selection that contained many players who had achieved a host of schoolgirl honours for the club over the years.
