Galway woman gets 3 million euro in damages after crash
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway woman has settled a damages claim for three million euro following a car accident.
Rhona Murphy from Newcastle was a passenger in a car that was involved in a collision on the Galway to Headford Road in 1999.
The driver was found to be speeding, and guilty of overtaking on the left-hand side when it was unsafe to do so at the time of the accident on the 7th February 1999.
According to today’s Irish Independent, Rhona Murphy, who was a passenger in the car sued the driver for negligence after she was unable to continue with her studies as a result of her injuries.
Justice Mary Irvine described the case as complex as Rhona Murphy had gotten into a car with someone who had consumed a lot of alcohol.
The judge described the settlement figure of €3million euro as ‘a very good offer.’
