Galway Bay fm newsroom – A district court sitting in Ennis had to be suspended yesterday after a Galway city woman disrupted the proceedings.

Seventy-nine year old Margaretta D’Arcy from St. Bridget’s Place in Woodquay was in court in connection with the alleged interference with the proper use of Shannon Airport last October.

According to today’s Irish Independent, Judge Patrick Durcan adjorned the matter due to the absence of Margaretta D’Arcy’s co-accused in court.

Ms D’Arcy responded by asking the judge to dismiss the summons against her because it was ‘inaccurate.’

The judge asked Ms D’arcy to step down from the bench in front of him to the ground for safety reasons, to which she responded ‘I am going to stand here.’

Judge Durcan then suspended the court for two minutes, and Ms D’Arcy was applauded by her supporters in the courtroom.

The case has been adjourned until the 11th of September.
