Galway woman brewing up a storm
A North Galway woman is on the verge of creating more than 80 new jobs – brewing a new brand of Irish whiskey as well as developing her own craft beer.
It is an exciting new adventure for Aine O’Hora who hails from Kilcrevanty near Kilbannon which is just four miles from Tuam.
Aine has a Degree in Brewing and Distillery which she obtained in Edinburgh and says that she always had a passion of the alcohol industry.
“All of my mother’s family are from Midleton in Cork which is the historical home of Irish whiskey, so whiskey is something that has always been a part of my life”, Aine told The Connacht Tribune.
The Galway woman has now at the helm as Head Brewer and Head Distiller in the new start of the art Boann Distillery and Boyne Brewhouse which are located in Drogheda.
Áine honed her craft for the past seven years as brewer with Matilda Bay which is Australia’s most awarded craft brewery.
The Louth-based business venture was launched by Minister Richard Bruton who unveiled its plans to create over 80 new jobs.
The €20 million facility will open next year and the development includes a whiskey distillery, a craft brewery and a taproom along with an architecturally designed visitor centre.
