Galway West TD says securing funds for South Connemara station will be difficult
Galway bay fm newsroom – A Galway West Fine Gael TD has admitted it won’t be easy to find the funds to build a fire station in South Connemara region.
A public meeting is taking place this evening in Carraroe in an effort to keep pressure on political representatives to provide a service.
The campaign has been ongoing for almost 20 years.
Galway city and Clifden fire services are currently covering areas such as Lettermore, Lettermullen and Carraroe.
A report issued to the county council at the October meeting outlined three options – one which included building a fire station at Carraroe.
However, one of the major issues going forward for the council is a lack of funding to provide the service.
Deputy Sean Kyne says while it won’t be easy to find the funds, he is fully in support of locating a fire station in the South Connemara area
