Galway West TD concerned over low draw-down of LEADER funding

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway West TD is expressing concern about the low level of funding being drawn down under the LEADER programme.
Deputy Eamon Ó’Cuív says only 210 million euro out of a budget of over 300 million euro has been spent on LEADER projects.
Funding is provided to local development companies under the scheme to implement projects that will generate local employment revitalise rural communities.
Deputy Ó’Cuív says if the money isn’t spent, it’ll be returned to Europe at the expense of Irish communities.
