GALWAY WEST T.D REJECTS ALLEGATIONS IN THE OIREACHTAS OF ASSAULT

Galway West T.D and former Fianna Fáil Junior Minister, Frank Fahey, has rejected accusations of "assaulting" another politician over the Lost at Sea report.

The controversy surrounds the Lost at Scheme which was implemented when he was Marine Minister.

According to today’s Irish Times, a report by Ombudsman Emily O’ Reilly found the there was "maladministration in the set up of the scheme."

Yesterday, using Oireachtas Privilege, Fine Gael T.D Tom Sheahan claimed that a member of the Oireachtas had been "assaulted" by Deputy Fahey.

However Deputy Fahey has refuted the claim, saying the opposition has made " another false allegation."
