GALWAY WEST – Full recount starting at 6.30pm

Fine Gael’s Fidelma Healy Eames has requested a full recount of her votes, which has been acceded to by Returning Officer Marian Chambers Higgins.

She has ordered the count centre in Leisureland to be completely cleared, and has said the recount will begin at 6.30pm.

The recount is expected to take six or seven hours. It also means that Ó Cuív and Nolan are technically not elected. They have been ‘deemed’ elected, not ‘declared’ elected.

The count centre has been cleared, and is now being secured by Gardaí.
