Galway West 11th Count: Ó Tuathail eliminated

Social Democrats candidate Niall Ó Tuathail has been eliminated on the eleventh count in Galway West – his 6,403 votes will now be distributed among the the remaining three candidates battling it out for the final two seats.
Mr Ó Tuathail said he knew he would not take a seat after the first count, but that he remained positive as he increased his vote on 2016.
Catherine Connolly (Ind), Hildegarde Naughton (FG) and Seán Kyne (FG) remain – with Connolly and Naughten likely to be elected off the back of Ó Tuathail’s transfers.
The twelfth and likely final count is underway at Galway Lawn Tennis Club in Salthill.
