GALWAY United are expecting a massive backlash from Bohemians in Dalymount Park this evening (7.45pm).

United is the only team to inflict a defeat on the Dublin outfit in their 11 home matches so far this season, a memorable 2-3 win in April, but Bohemians come into this clash on the back of a 3-0 hiding away to Shamrock Rovers last weekend and will be going all out to erase that result.

“If we can repeat the performance against Bohemians then that would be great but we’ll not be getting carried away with ourselves – Bohemians have improved a good bit since then,” said Galway United assistant manager, Gareth Gorman.

“They got a good hammering by Rovers at the weekend and we just hope we’re not on the end of a backlash. All we can do is to try our best and we certainly won’t be lacking in effort,” he said. Gorman insisted that with 13 games remaining, United, who are placed eighth in the table eight points ahead of Dundalk and 16 ahead of Bray Wanderers, are far from safe.

He said the target for the remainder of the season is to try and leapfrog UCD and Dundalk who are four and seven points ahead of them respectively.United must play Drogheda twice and also play Bray, Dundalk and UCD, which will be targeted as must win ties, although they will still be going all-out to secure points tonight, he said.
