Turf cutters in East Galway are hopeful senior Government officials will back down on plans to ban turf cutting, after their visit to affected Galway bogs.

Officials from the Department of Heritage will visit three raised boglands tomorrow. (3/11)

The locations that will be inspected include Ardraigue in Killimor, Barroughter and Clonmoylan.

It follows a meeting last month between the local bogs action group and the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan.
