GALWAY TO BENEFIT FROM SUBSTANTIAL EU FUNDING

Galway will be one of several regions to benefit from funding as part of a new EU development scheme.

The aim is to promote innovation and competitiveness in remote and peripheral areas.

The Northern Periphery Programme has a total budget of around 59 million euro for over the next seven years for coastal areas in Europe.

Funding will mainly be for the development of road transport and other forms of public and private transport in Galway and other coastal regions.
