Galway third highest for business failures

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway had the third highest number of business failures for the month of July, with just Dublin and Cork ahead
Out of a total of 166 insolvencies nationally 10 were in Galway, making up 6 per cent.
Dublin had the highest number of business failures at 46 per cent while Cork was next with 13 per cent.
Galway’s total of 6 per cent is up on the rate of insolvencies in July last year which was 4.9 per cent.
At the other end of the spectrum start-ups in Galway accounted for 3.4 per cent of the national figure, which is the same as July 2013.
This equates to 121 new businesses and companies starting up in Galway last month.
Galway is lagging behind the national trend as company start ups rose by 11 per cent on last year, the highest increase since pre recession 2007 .
