GALWAY TEENAGER PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULTING MOTHER

A teenager, who tried to rape his mother two years ago, has agreed to admit himself voluntarily to a psychiatric hospital, after appearing at Galway Circuit Criminal Court.

The court heard yesterday that he had continued drinking since the offence first came before the court last year, and had tried to take his own life last August.

The 17 year old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to assaulting his mother with intent to rape her on September 16 , 2006, at the family home in a Co Galway village.
