Galway teams unite behind March For Maroon
‘MARCH For Maroon’, a virtual 10km run, walk or cycle aimed at raising money for the Galway GAA Training Fund, Cancer Care West and the Oranmore-Maree Coastal Search Unit, was unveiled earlier this week.
The fundraiser, taking place throughout March, was launched by a host of Galway’s Gaelic games stars, including footballers Shane Walsh and Johnny Heaney, hurlers David Burke and Padraic Mannion, camogie’s Sarah Dervan and ladies’ footballer Louise Ward. Among the others who have pledged their support are Joe Canning and Paul Conroy.
Galway GAA, though, are calling on everyone with ‘Tribes’ blood running through their veins – be they living at home or working abroad – to get behind their initiative.
“In these challenging times, we are delighted to be putting on an event like this with all four Galway teams involved, including hurling, football, camogie and ladies football,” says Galway GAA Chairman Pat Kearney
