GALWAY TD WANTS BAN ON MEAT IMPORTS

A Galway East T.D is calling for an immediate ban on all meat imports in light of the current horsemeat controversy.

Deputy Colm Keaveney says the Minister for Agriculture needs to implement a temporary ban until the source of the horsemeat contamination is identified.

The horsemeat scandal has now spread to 16 E.U countries.

Deputy Keaveney says immediate action needs to be taken to protect Ireland’s reputation.
