GALWAY TD CALLS FOR CHANGES TO ENERGY LEGISLATION

Energy legislation must be changed to reward and encourage efficiency in Galway businesses and schools.

That’s according to Galway West TD Seán Kyne who says there are no benefits or payments for local communities who produce their own wind power.

Deputy Kyne says schools such as Lisheenkyle in Athenry and businesses such as Killary Adventure Centre must be rewarded for their efficiency.

Under current legislation, any surplus energy they produce is fed back to the national grid without any compensation.
